URA’s Phillip Sempira(L) and former SC Villa skipper Stephen Bengo face-off last season. The Uganda FA has given teams in the 2013/2014 Uganda Premier League until next Friday to register their players and file in their contracts or face dismissal. Its alleged that some of the clubs are yet to declare their allegiance to the newly created league after the wrangles that rocked Uganda football last season with two parallel leagues going taking place.
Secretary of the competitions committee of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Decolas Kiiza reporters that the new united league is set to kick off on August 20th and less than 30 per cent of their player data has been sent in. “Teams should take this exercise seriously because it is what helps us to have a smooth season.
We might penalize teams that register late,” added Kiiza. He said any player whose contract is not with the FA will not be issued with a license for the season.
